HOSPITAL BAG ESSENTIALS!
As you’re getting closer to the big day, it’s time to make sure you’ve got everything you need for your hospital stay. TRUST, having a well-packed bag will make your experience so much smoother. So let’s dive into the essentials you’ll want to bring with you when you’re headed to the hospital to give birth!
1. Your Birth Plan (if you have one)
It’s like your baby’s first VIP pass! First time moms = we think this is a good idea to write out. TBH we have discussed that half the time we don’t even share it with the doctors or nurses; however- it is not to have a written plan in your mind of what you want/don’t want for our birth experiences. Writing it down= MANIFESTATION!
2. Comfy Clothes
Some of us like to be lazy and kick it in a hospital gown, however others want to feel more trendy! Regardless, you’ll want to be cozy, so pack a few pairs of comfy pajamas, a robe, and slippers. You’ll likely be spending a lot of time in the hospital, so having something soft and cute to wear will be a total mood booster.
3. Maternity Bras (PUMPING/BREASTFEEDING MAMAS ESPECIALLY!)
Don’t forget these! If you plan to pump or breastfeed these bras are super helpful. Check out our amazon storefront for ones that we suggest!
4. Toiletries
Bring your favorite personal care items. Think SKINCARE, shampoo, conditioner, and a toothbrush. Even though the hospital will provide some basics, having your own stuff will help you feel more like yourself. Some of us truly go all natural during our stay post baby while others like to feel like themselves - its a great idea to bring some of your everyday makeup (if you have) to make you feel more normal with all the changes your body is enduring. LASTLY, don’t forget chapstick—your lips will thank you!
5. Snacks
Having your favorite snacks while waiting for your little one to make their appearance is a great tip!
6. Charger(s)
Make sure you order and bring a long charger. You don’t know where the outlets will be in the hospital room so make sure you have one so that you can reach it at all times.
7. Important Documents
Pack your ID & insurance information,. This will keep everything running smoothly when you’re checking in.
8. Baby Clothes
The hospital usually provides basics for the baby- realistically he/she will be wrapped in a blanket the whole time, but you might want to bring a special outfit for those adorable first photos so bring one or two outfits if you want!
9. Going-Home Outfit
Going home outfit for you and the baby!! For both you and your little one it is important to pick something comfortable and easy to put on. You’ll appreciate having something that fits well and makes you feel good as you head out of the hospital.
***Remember, every birth experience is unique, so pack what feels right for you-JUST DON’T GO OVERBOARD. Keeping these essentials in mind will help you feel more prepared and less stressed. Good luck, and here’s to an amazing birth experience and meeting your little one!
