Things to avoid (or look at) while trying
Soooo its been 2 months and you’re still not pregnant. THIS SUCKS, many of us have been there and we know it f-ing SUCKS. At THE PREGNANCY DIARY’S we truly believe in early intervention. As talked about before we think KNOWLEDGE IS POWER- so if you’re feeling called to do so, GO SEE A FERTILITY DOCTOR(who takes your insurance). No need to wait for a year of trying. HOWEVER, if you are not quite there yet here are some things to take a closer look at when you’re trying to conceive your little BEBE.
Stress Overload: Easier said than done, right? But stressing over conception can ironically hinder your efforts. HORMONES are EVERYTHING (especially when trying to get preg.) and sadly stress messes with your hormones big time. This can make it harder for those little swimmers to meet the egg. Find ways to unwind, whether it's through yoga, meditation, masturbating (LOL) or anything else that floats your boat.
Overdoing It on the Coffee: Look, we get it. Life is crazy. Sometimes you need that extra kick to get through the day, but too much caffeine isn't ideal when you're trying to conceive. Once again, back to the hormones, too much caffeine can mess your levels and even decrease fertility. Opt for decaf or limit yourself to one-two cups a day.
Ignoring Your Diet: What you eat plays a crucial role in your fertility. Loading up on processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats won't do you any favors. Instead, focus on a REAL FOOD and don't forget to drink plenty of water!
Skipping Regular Exercise: Exercise is fantastic for your overall health, including your reproductive system. But that doesn't mean you need to go overboard. Extreme exercise can actually disrupt your menstrual cycle and throw off ovulation. Aim for moderate, enjoyable workouts.
Ignoring Your Cycle: Understanding your menstrual cycle is THE KEY when you're trying to conceive. Tracking your cycle, monitoring ovulation, and knowing the best times to try can significantly increase your chances of success. There are plenty of apps out there to help you keep tabs on everything.
Overdoing the Alcohol: Sorry ladies, but excessive drinking isn't doing your fertility any favors. It can disrupt hormone levels and decrease fertility in both men and women. It's okay to enjoy the occasional glass of wine or a cocktail, but moderation with alcohol is key.
Forgetting About Your Partner: Let's not forget that it takes two to tango! While you're busy focusing on your own health and habits, don't neglect your partner's role in all of this. Encourage them to adopt healthy habits too, and keep the lines of communication open throughout the process.
